Your mental and physical health is as important as the health of your business.
Owning and running your business is a 24/7 commitment, but set an appointment with yourself weekly or monthly to get some time for yourself. Turn your phone, computer off, go somewhere different, see old or make new friends, go fishing or whatever helps you relax, and forget about your business for a while. Taking time off can help you get inspired, see things in a different way, and center yourself.
Mental health is something most of us do not like to discuss, but it affects everyone. Knowing when to ask for help, knowing when to take time for yourself is crucial. As a business owner it is hard, but necessary. We all go through times where the stress, the responsibility of taking care of our employees, clients, and the business can take a toll on our mental health. Take time to evaluate your goals, celebrate your achievements, and set forth new goals for yourself and your business. Both you and your business will thank you.
As a business owner finding the work/life balances sometimes seems impossible. In the past I have been guilty of burning the candles at both ends, and saying “NO” seemed impossible. I have found that creating a schedule and trying to stick with it most of the time has helped me tremendously. Meditation, exercise and taking small breaks during the day to appreciate nature and be grateful throughout the day has helped me cope when times of stress come about. I hope this will help remind us, including myself, that we all need a little time for ourselves. Enjoy and have fun!
